Stop giving Kanye attention

Kanye is back to his usual tricks. Are we surprised? We shouldn’t be.
Kanye is wearing a black top with a swastika on it. Not only that, he is wearing clothes that represent the KKK. Are you surprised? Because I’m not.
His attention-seeking antics, similar to that of a petulant child, are not new. They have gotten more extreme over time, but his willingness to say what is on his mind, for better or worse, has always been prevalent.
Whether it was him saying the President at the time, George Bush, “doesn't care about black people" or his infamous Hennesy-induced rant at a young Taylor Swift winning over Beyonće at the MTV awards, he has never been afraid to spew what he was thinking.
It was a frustrating pattern for fans of the Chicago rapper, but at least originally his heart was usually in the right place. A big emphasis on the word usually. Admittedly even early in his career he had a few misfires.
But that is no longer the case.
Kanye first started to lose his marbles during his 2016 MAGA era which was, bizarre to say the least. The befriending of Donald Trump was a slap in the face and completely random on all accounts.
Then of course he tried to run himself in 2020 which failed miserably. Thank the lord.
After several other misinformed tweets over the years, it finally cumulated in a 2022 interview with Alex Jones where he took a pro-Hitler stance.
It is an absolute travesty that is a real sentence.
So am I surprised it has transpired to the point where he is saying that he loves the German dictator, is wearing a swastika on his clothes and has gone full right-wing nut job? No, I'm not.
What does surprise me is the people still supporting him.
Granted, that also shouldn’t surprise me. A five-minute scroll on Twitter shows you why there are people out there still feeding on his hateful barrage. It seems like everyone is having a competition on who can be the most prejudiced. Its almost like everyone jumping on the latest trend.
At least in 2016 when he was slowly starting to descend into madness, fans and the wider public could cling to two things. One he still released great music and two he is mentally unwell.
In 2016, sure, you could say those things were true. Does it excuse horrible opinions? No. But does it provide context? Yes. Or at least a way to cope for die-hard fans.
But many things can change in several years. The mentally unstable well has dried out and his music, now made horrendously with AI, is the musical equivalent of scraping your nails against a chalkboard. It is inexcusable to make excuses for him. We need to start seeing him for who he is.
At Kanye’s core, he used to be a strong-minded and passionate individual with the ability to make music that could resonate with millions of people from all walks of life. But he is no longer around.
It is like he has been swapped with a clone of himself. A clone which has lived in the depths of Arkham Asylum with even the Joker being weary to go near.
Ye at his core, is a bigoted child, desperate for attention and the same thing Kanye would have hated 20 years ago. A person we should give no attention to.
If you still give him attention, stop. If you make excuses for him, stop. Most importantly, if you are still a fan of him or you believe he is right, seek help. Immediately.
