South Park is under hot water again

In the 28 years they have been on air, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have used South Park as a way of commenting, offending and making jokes about nearly anything.
Everyone has been on the receiving end of their take-downs. To varying levels of ruthlessness, sure, but they have equally torn apart all sides of debates and topics in funny ways.
Have they got it wrong before? Definitely, their disregard of Al Gore and climate change in the form of Manbearpig comes to mind, but in their defence, they did apologise in the end.
The point is, regardless of whether they were right or wrong on the issue, they have never been afraid to say how they truly feel on a matter.
As shows go, I don’t think many are as misinterpreted as South Park is. The fact that to this day, people watch Cartman and believe his actions are a representation of Parker and Stone’s views and not the sole thing they are against is an outstanding lack of media literacy I can’t even begin to comprehend.
To no one’s surprise, the newest people to fall victim to thinking South Park was on their side are the MAGA hat, far-right weirdos. It’s not surprising, they are hardly known for their outstanding intelligence.
Paramount recently bought the show for 1.5 billion dollars. Yes, you read that correctly.
So on the back of such a deal, what did the show do? They tore current President Donald Trump to pieces.
In the episode, they highlighted Trump’s happy slappy use of lawsuits, censorship, corporations caving to pressure and his tiny penis because South Park is going to South Park.
They also spoke about the cancellation of The Late Show, and how if they don’t stop talking about Trump they will share the same fate. Which is particularly poignant considering CBS, which owns The Late Show is owned by Paramount.
The right is devastated. They feel betrayed that the show has finally gone ‘woke’. They are fuming at another show pandering to the left.
Don’t worry though. As much as they keep going on about it, they are not bothered. It’s not like The White House put out a tweet saying the show is not “relevant” and is “hanging on by a thread” and just a “fourth-rate show anyway”.
But don’t worry though, they are not bothered by it.
Now as anyone with a few brain cells knows, this is not the case. They are fuming that the show they thought was on their side, although it has clearly always been against them, isn’t. They are just deflecting as usual.
More than anything, this whole situation to me is just unbelievably funny. The fact that after all this time people still don’t understand what South Park is makes me laugh.
The fact that the right thought South Park was an ally is funny. The episode in itself is funny. The whole situation is just funny and South Park to a tee.
They had everyone’s pants down again. No matter how many times, people are still blindsided by it.
The best part? It was only the first episode. I can’t wait to see what else it has in store.
